Christmas Cards…..check!

CC09 copy

We cut way back on our Christmas card list this year, just sending most to relatives. If you’ve gotten one in the past and didn’t this year–we still love you! Since you read our blog, you know more about us than I could ever write in a Christmas letter…but here are a few highlights of 2009:

~We successfully procrastinated finishing up the final details on the 2008 remodeling project.

~We endured lots of sickness….more than any other year before…thankfully none of it serious.

~I turned the big 3-0.

~We experienced terrible luck with our cell phones–multiple accidents and malfunctions required them to be replaced more times this year than I’d like to count.

~Our children smashed eggs all over the kitchen more times that I’d like to count.

~We endured many, many bathroom cleanups as we attempted to potty train the twins. The payoff? We no longer have to factor diapers into the monthly budget!!

~We cut down two trees in the backyard–one was wasp-nest-infested and the other was just ugly. After that one was gone, our neighbor thanked us for getting rid of it….it really was that ugly.

~We had to replace all 4 tires on the TrailBlazer.

~We have a huge crack running across the windshield of the TrailBlazer (thankfully it waited to appear until just after being inspected).

~The Sunfire has been on life-support for much of the year. We haven’t been able to bring ourselves to let good ‘ol Maggie go just yet….the thought of a car payment is quite depressing. So, we just keep medicating her enough to get Joseph to and from work every day (just put $250 into her yesterday).

~The door on our freezer in the garage was left open, ruining a good share of the food that was inside it.

~We managed to stay on top of the yard just enough that we weren’t the eye sore of the neighborhood….unlike last year.

And that’s the stuff that keeps it real around here. I think people tend to paint themselves in the best light possible on blogs or in Christmas letters (guilty!) so I thought it was worth mentioning a few of the things that keep our days exciting and our bank accounts empty. Merry Christmas everyone!!
